Shawn, Andrew, Brendan, Hilda, Mustafa, Zainab, Gabriel, Albert, Jeremy, Sara, and Madinah
It was quite a day for the El Camino Speech & Debate Team. The squad’s Student Congress Presiding Officers had a dominating performance with Albert Tang, Brendan Pichay, and Shawn Haq all winning gavels for their leadership in the Varsity Houses, and Hilda Velásquez-Galvez earning one for her work in one of the Novice rooms.
In terms of their work as senators, Hilda was the top finisher for the team with a third-place ranking in Varsity House #2.
In the Novice arena, Alex Sharpe just missed a trophy with a 6th place finish; Mustafa Waheb earned a plus-sized trophy with his 1st place finish in House #4; Madinah Najib matched that accomplishment with a first-place finish of her own in House #6; Jeremy Miller had his break-out performance of the year with a 2nd place finish in House #7, and Sarah Kiamanesh finished right behind Jeremy with her 3rd place spot. House #8 was also dominated by El Camino with Gabriel Salazar grabbing the top spot, and Zainab Rangwala coming in close behind with a third-place trophy.
