Marlon Poroj

In the Senate chamber the Congressional Debate (Student Congress), Marlon went up against over 200 competitors. In the first round, he was situated in Preliminary Senate 5, against sixteen other competitors, and finished first in the room. 

He then advanced to Semi-Final level of the competition where he placed 1st again!

The last stage was the Finals round. Roughly 204 competitors had started this competition and now there were only 24 students left. When it was all said and done, Marlon was the  18th-best student Congressional Debater in the country. Well done, Marlon!!

He was not the only El Camino student who was involved with Congressional Debate. Gabriel Salazar was in the House chamber. Although Gabriel put up a good fight for a sophomore rookie debater, he was not able to advance to the Semi-Final round.
